The Green Star waste-to-power plant has a waste treatment capacity of 800 tons/day, and an incinerator capacity of 180 tons/day, contributing to environmental protection in Bac Ninh province, and providing local electricity of about 40 million kWh/year. The plant was officially operated on November 1st, in Phu Lang commune, Que Vo town, Bac Ninh province.

This project contributed to promoting comprehensive strategic cooperation between Viet Nam and South Korea. Ms. Han Wha-Jin, the Minister of Environment of South Korea, a representative of the Korean Embassy in Viet Nam, and leaders of Bac Ninh province attended the event.

Green Star Environmental Company Limited is the investor in the factory. The factory operates using Korean waste heat recovery technology. The total factory investment is about 45 million USD, of which the waste incinerator item has an investment capital of 32 million USD through a joint venture of two companies from Viet Nam and Korea.

This is the pioneering private waste-to-power incineration plant in Vietnam, resulting from a comprehensive partnership between Green Star Environmental Company Limited, Chosun Refractories ENG Company Limited, and Chosun Refractories ENG Company Limited and SK Ecoplant Group (Korea) in developing waste incineration technology to generate electricity, especially artificial intelligence solutions in waste incineration.

The factory operation is expected to become a pioneering model for exchanging carbon credit according to the Paris Agreement and the bilateral agreement between South Korea and Viet Nam.
