The Institute of Vietnamese Studies and Development Sciences – Ha Noi National University and Phenikaa University have collaborated with the People's Committee of Giao Hai Commune, Doan Giao Thuy District, Nam Dinh Province to organize a beach cleaning event called “Join hands to clean up Giao Hai sea - Let's draw greener ocean together”.
This is one of the activities within the framework of the research project “Sources, Sinks, and Solutions for the Impact of Plastics on Coastal Communities in Viet Nam” (3SIP2C).
The 3SIP2C project is funded by the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) through the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) of the UK Research and Innovation Foundation (UKRI) and implemented by Heriot-Watt University (United Kingdom) and 06 partners in Viet Nam, including: Institute of Vietnamese Studies and Development Sciences (Ha Noi National University), Ha Noi University of Science and Technology; Phenikaa University; College of Economics, Technology and Fisheries; Institute of Fisheries Planning Economics and Institute of Strategy, Policy on Natural Resources and Environment.
The campaign was attended by more than 400 delegates, local people and students from 3 schools, including the Academy of Journalism and Communication, Phenikaa University and the Institute of Vietnamese Studies and Development Sciences.
The goal of this campaign is to help staff, students, students and people understand the current situation of plastic waste in the coastal area of Giao Hai commune, identify emission sources, common types of plastic waste, and learn about the effects of plastic waste. impact of plastic waste on local ecosystems and communities.
The main campaign is one of practical actions to propagate and create positive habits, helping each individual to be aware of hygiene and environmental protection; At the same time, it is an opportunity for students to gain more experience and practice participating in real projects.
