On August 3, Mr. Hoang Duc Cuong, Deputy Administrator of Viet Nam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration and Ms. Maija Sepala, Counselor for Policy Development, Embassy of Finland discussed cooperation projects with Finland.

Deputy Administrator Hoang Duc Cuong would like to thank the Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland for always paying attention to promoting cooperation and supporting Viet Nam in the field of hydrometeorology. In the past time, the support from Finland has contributed to strengthening the institutional capacity, technical and technological capacity for the units of the Viet Nam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed the current status of the implementation plan to prepare for the implementation of 2 projects “Strengthening the capacity of high-altitude meteorological observation for disaster prevention and socio-economic development in Viet Nam” (Finland 4) and the Project “Air Pollution Forecasting in Viet Nam” (Finland 5).

Project Finland 4 aims to strengthen the ability of meteorological observation at altitude, improve the ability to provide public services on hydrometeorology of the Viet Nam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration to serve socio-economic development nationwide in the context of climate change. increasingly increasing.

Project Finland 5 has the objective of improving and upgrading the air pollution monitoring and forecasting system to suit the needs of Vietnamese society and people; improve capacity to operate, maintain and develop air pollution monitoring and forecasting system.

The two sides discussed cooperation opportunities in a number of fields of mutual interest, especially in the fields of hydrometeorology, cooperation opportunities to implement a number of feasible projects in the next time.
