That is the goal of the regional plan on natural disaster prevention, control and irrigation for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, recently signed by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang.

Specifically, by 2030, in terms of water supply, the government strives to supply enough water for daily life; supply and create water supply sources for rural areas, urban areas, industrial parks, economic zones...; meet the water demand for economic activities in coastal areas and islands with densely populated islands; actively source on-site water for daily-life activities in areas affected by drought, water shortage, and saltwater intrusion; pay attention to some areas with special difficulties in water resources, areas often affected by drought, saltwater intrusion and inundation. Actively check salinity and sweetness in estuaries and coastal areas. At the same time, replenish water sources on polluted rivers, canals and irrigation systems, contributing to improving the environment, ensuring water quality to meet water use requirements.

With a vision to 2050, the government can supply enough water for daily life with 100% certainty; supply and create water supply sources for rural areas, urban areas, industrial parks, economic zones… as well as meet the water demand for economic activities in coastal areas and islands with densely populated islands.

Proactively covering the entire plowed rice area with a minimum frequency of 85%, the Red River Delta alone is 90% to 95% certain, proactive with extreme scenarios, improving the compensation saving water rate and completely overcoming the state of water pollution in rivers, canals, irrigation systems...
