The British Cave Research Association (BCRA) has just announced that it has discovered at the same time a pristine and magnificent new cave system in Quang Binh province.
The location that BCRA has just announced and recorded the discovery of the cave system is in the limestone area of Lam Hoa commune, Tuyen Hoa district, more than 80km from Phong Nha - Ke Bang area.
Previously, through the survey process, BCRA experts discovered and conducted exploration, measurement and drawing of 5 caves, including: Hung Tru 1, Hung Tru 2, Hung Tru 3, Hung Ka Vong 1, Hung Ka Vong 2 with a total length of 3,349m.
All caves are wet caves, some caves have dry branches. In which, Hung Tru 1 cave is 1,919m long, 11m deep; Hung Tru 2 cave is 502m long, 25.8m deep; Hung Tru 3 cave is 153m long, 11.4m deep; Hung Ka Vong 1 cave is 238m long and 2.8m deep; Hung Ka Vong 2 cave is 537m long and 5m deep.
In addition, BCRA experts also discovered a cave with a relatively large underground stream length, but could not fully survey it due to insufficient preparation of vehicles. The delegation will return in the near future, continue to use the boat to go deeper into the cave.
According to BCRA experts, the discovery of these new caves is only the initial result of the survey process in Lam Hoa commune, in the locality there may still be many pristine caves that have never “human footprints” will be gradually discovered.
In 2009, the British Cave Research Association announced to the People's Committee of Quang Binh province the discovery of the world's largest cave in Viet Nam. The cave is named Son Doong, located 9.5 km from Ho Chi Minh Road on the west route - belongs to Phong Nha - Ke Bang World Natural Heritage.
