With Western architectural style, the Ho Chi Minh City Post Office that is over a century old has secured a place among the top 11 most beautiful post offices worldwide.
Located at 2 Paris Commune Square in District 1, the Ho Chi Minh City Central Post was constructed by the French between 1886 and 1891, and has retained its original design. Recently, it claimed second spot on the American magazine Architectural Digest's list of the world's 11 most beautiful post offices.
The architects Villedieu and Foulhoux designed this building, also known as the Saigon Steel Wire Department, as a communication hub for the city center.
The edifice is characterized by its yellow hue, which was restored in 2015.
Symmetrically arranged, the post office features two two-story side blocks adjusting a three-story central block, all topped with tiled roofs. Arched doors adorn the facade, adding to its allure.
