Inauguration of a 74 million USD waste-to-energy plant

On the afternoon of January 11th, in Thuan Thanh township, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh officially inaugurated a hi-tech waste-to-energy plant, which cost 74 million USD. The plant was an investment cooperation project between Thuan Thanh Environment JSC and JFE Engineering Corporation (Japan).

The Green Star waste-to-power plant has a waste treatment capacity of 800 tons/day, and an incinerator capacity of 180 tons/day, contributing to environmental protection in Bac Ninh province, and providing local electricity of about 40 million kWh/year. The plant was officially operated on November 1st, in Phu Lang commune, Que Vo town, Bac Ninh province.

On November 1st, The Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources and Environment (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment), the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Netherland Development Organization coordinated with the Embassy of Australia to Viet Nam to co-host the Workshop and Exhibition “Platform for the best available environment practice in livestock commercial farm for circular agriculture”.

Green hydrogen has great potential for export to developed countries, and is the key factor in accelerating the energy transition process in Viet Nam. A clean hydrogen ecosystem based on renewable energy has the potential to contribute 40 - 45 billion USD to annual GDP. That was the comment of Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung at The National Green Hydrogen Summit: Energy Transition and Green Hydrogen Development in Viet Nam was held on October 28 at the National Innovation Centre (NIC).
