Officially implement set of statistical targets for green growth

Viet Nam officially a implemented the Green Growth Statistical Indicator Set as Circular No. 10/2023/TT-BKHDT regulating this set of indicators took effect (December 2023).

The set is the basis for monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the National Strategy on Green Growth for the 2021-30 period, with a vision to 2050; At the same time, it will promote economic entities, especially businesses, to move towards green trends.

The Green Growth Statistical Indicator Set includes 72 indicators, ranked according to 4 goals of the National Green Growth Strategy, from reducing the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions per GDP to reflecting the level of "green" in economic sectors". The set of criteria was built based on consulting many documents of international organizations such as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), World Bank (WB), and Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI)..., so it is beneficial for businesses in general, especially businesses with a position of exporting to international markets.

The Green Growth Statistical Indicator Set includes 4 main goals:

Goal 1: Reduce the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions per GDP.

Goal 2: Greening economic sectors, including the following fields: Energy; Transportation; Agriculture; Trade - Services; Technology; investment capital, Bonds, Credit: forest resources; natural resources; Water Resources.

Goal 3: Greening lifestyles and promoting sustainable consumption.

Goal 4: Greening the transition process on the principles of equality, inclusion, and enhancing resilience.

This set is applied to agencies, organizations, and individuals providing statistical information, producing statistical data, and using statistical information on green growth.

Experts say that implementing the set of green criteria is a way to help Vietnamese businesses proactively transform toward green development, opening up many opportunities for Vietnamese companies, not only in the EU market but also in other developed markets similar to the EU, such as the US, UK, Japan, and Australia.
