Within the framework of the 28th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh received and worked with Mr. Simon O'Conell, General Director of the Netherlands Development Agency (SNV), the two sides agreed on a number of cooperation contents in the coming time.
At the reception and working session, Mr. Simon O'Conell proposed to Minister Dang Quoc Khanh to promote cooperation between SNV and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to adapt to climate change based on nature-based solutions, which is SNV's strength, uses biogas. Minister Dang Quoc Khanh emphasized that Viet Nam is one of the countries severely affected by climate change and sea level rise. Therefore, strengthening resilience and adaptation to climate change is a vital priority for Viet Nam. At the same time, the Netherlands is a country with a lot of experience in water resources management, delta development, and climate change adaptation, so the Minister asked SNV to support and cooperate with the Ministry to increase Strengthening water resources management, adapting to saltwater intrusion and sea level rise in the Mekong Delta; cooperation on clean energy conversion and development.
Minister Dang Quoc Khanh highly appreciated the proposals of SNV General Director in launching cooperation programs between the two sides. At the same time, the Minister proposed that SNV will have proposals to mobilize resources from financial institutions and climate funds established by the Netherlands to implement cooperative activities in accordance with the priorities of the two countries.
