On 6 December, Deputy Minister Tran Quy Kien met with FESCO CEO Andrey Vasilevich Severilov and mission at MONRE office to discuss cooperation activies to deployed the MOU signed in 2023 on geological area. FESCO is one of the leading transportation and logistics companies in Russia operating a variety of assets including ports, terminals, vessel fleet, rolling stock. FESCO works in the Russian Far East and contributing to the growing trade between Russia and Asian countries.
At the meeting, Vice Minister Kien highly appreciated the cooperation between Russia and Vietnam since 1950, expressing his satisfaction with substantial collaboration in various fields, including economics, trade, education, and science and technology. The Vice Minister hopes that future collaboration between the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Russian Federation, including FESCO company, will thrive, leveraging Russian expertise and advanced technology.
Vice Minister Kien informed FESCO CEO Andrey that in April 2023, the Prime Minister of Viet Nam approved Decision No. 334/QĐ-TTg, endorsing the Geology, Minerals, and Mining Industry Strategy until 2030 with a vision until 2045. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment looks forward to cooperation with the Russian government and FESCO to implement activities aligned with Viet Nam's expectations in the mentioned strategy.
Regarding the development of cooperation project "Research, survey, assessment of potential mineral resources in promising areas of Viet Nam's sea," the Deputy Minister assigned the Department of Geology to collaborate with relevant agencies of FESCO and Viet Nam to finalize the proposal for consideration by the authorities. The Deputy Minister emphasized the need for thorough internal consultations with relevant ministries, sectors to complete procedures before seeking approval from the competent authorities.
FESCO CEO Andrey expressed his satisfaction and gratitude for the warm welcome by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The CEO looks forward to prompt implementation of defined activities under the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two parties. Regarding the mentioned project, Andrey hopes that the Ministry will expedite procedures to ensure the project's earliest possible deployment starting from 2024.
