In 2021, the Department of Survey, Mapping and Geographic Information of Viet Nam (MONRE) will focus on building "Vietnam Geospatial Information Portal and Integrating Frame Data" (Trial version). On that basis, to elaborate a project on building and operating the Vietnam Geospatial Portal and submitting it to the Minister for reporting to the Prime Minister for approval.
To build the national geospatial data infrastructure, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will take the lead in formulating development strategies and implementation plans; Developing mechanisms, policies and resources to organize the implementation of this development strategy and plan; Selecting and developing technologies, technical standards and regulations on national geospatial data infrastructure. In addition, it also builds and integrates geospatial data and builds and operates the Vietnam Geospatial Portal and geospatial data applications and services.
National geospatial data infrastructure and objectives must ensure that geospatial data is standardized and fully gathered from ministries, branches, localities, organizations and individuals; regularly updated to meet the requirements of state management, socio-economic development, national defense and security assurance; natural disasters prevention and control, rescue and salvage, environmental incident, climate change response; improving people intellectual; conducive to the provision of public services; ensure interconnection with geospatial data infrastructure of countries in the region and internationally.
The construction of the Vietnam Geospatial Information Portal will contribute to sharing, converting, analyzing, integrating, searching and downloading frame data and specialized data.
